The fifth NGN-PET project meeting was held on July 2nd & 3rd, hosted by the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute, at the University of Tübingen. During the meeting the team shared the results obtained so far in the different work packages, and agreed on next steps for acomplishing with the overall objectives of the project. Several partial objectives have been successfully reached, clearly showing the suitability of our approach. Neuron-glia cross-talk has been demostrated to be crucial for DRG neuron excitability. We have identified nociceptor induced gene expression in purified nociceptive sensory neurons, both in a naïve and injured state. Targets from this gene list have been selected, and are being evaluated in the in vivo models and in vitro assays. Next meeting will be held in March 2020, close to the end of the project.
